After allthe pieces of our project were finalized and assembled we were able to conclude the construction portion of our project. Nevertheless we were required to inspect out systems for any leakage or defects in our design with the purpose of preventing any mistakes from occuring in our testing period that could set us back. When we ran the system we were able to identify 3 leakage points among some connections that we were able locate and weld back together using some soldering wires. After fixing the system we decided to inspect it again and we were able to confirm that the leakages previously identified were successfully corrected, with the system now in a fully functional state we were able to move to the testing and data analysis portion of the project.
The first step in our field research was to detect the temperature variance on the ground at a depht of 6 ft deep. We were able to recognize that the usually a temperature fluctuance of about 3.2 degrees Celsius (19.6 C to 22.8C ) depending on the time of the day. In addition, we were able to identify that the temperature on the underground is still much lower compared to the ambient's which indicates that the possibility of refrigeration is possible.
The second step in our field research and data gathering was to run the system and observe how the temperature varies according to the time the system has been running as well as the time of the day. The first piece of information that we were able to observe based on our data is that the temperature within the room in which the system is running decreased a total of 3.8 degrees celsius throughout the day (27 C to 23.2 C) which allowed us to confirm that the prototype was functional at refrigerating the room. In addition we were able to noticed that at the beginning of the day at 6:00 am the exterior temperature was much colder that the one inside the house however as time progressed we were able to see that both the interior and exterior temperature reached the same value ataround 11:20 am and as the time progressed the exterior temperature became much higher with it reaching its peak at 3:00 pm with a temperature of 36 C meanwhile in the interior of the house the total temperature was that of 23.8 C. So based on our results we were able to keep the temperature of the house 12.2 C coolder at the peak of the hottest part of the day.
