Students from Sunbeam College for Women visited the Centre for Genetic Disorders, Banaras Hindu University, for hands-on laboratory exposure. The visit introduced them to genetic diagnostics, molecular techniques, and research facilities, providing valuable practical insight into human genetics and life science applications.
Dr. Chandana Basu visited Deva International Society for Child Care, Varanasi, where she met Dr. Tulsi Das and interacted warmly with specially abled children. During the visit, she distributed theme-based educational comics, using storytelling as a tool to spark curiosity and learning among the children. The interaction created a joyful and inclusive learning environment, encouraging imagination and confidence. In support of child welfare and education, Dr. Basu also presented a ₹5,000 financial contribution, generously funded by IndiaBioscience, to assist the society’s ongoing efforts for the care and development of children with special needs.
The Crew X Team visited Sunbeam College for Women, where Dr. Chandana Basu and Dr. Garima, along with their dedicated volunteers, conducted an engaging and inspiring academic session for women students pursuing careers in science. The program began with interactive lectures on the basics of life sciences, simplifying fundamental biological concepts and connecting them to real-world applications. The session concluded with a lively hands-on workshop, where students actively participated in solving science-based puzzles and performed a DNA isolation experiment using banana, making learning both fun and memorable. The combination of lectures, mentorship, and practical activities created an encouraging environment that sparked curiosity, strengthened scientific understanding, and inspired young women to pursue science with confidence and enthusiasm.
At NPDS 2023, Dr. Chandana shared her inspiring professional journey, highlighting the vision and impact of Genetiks4U. RYIM 2023 (13-15 September 2023)
Dr. Chandana Basu visited CSIR–Central Drug Research Institute (CDRI), Lucknow to participate in the Regional Young Investigator Meeting, where she played two significant roles that highlighted her leadership and scientific engagement. She served as one of the organizers of the meeting, contributing to the planning and smooth coordination of sessions that brought together early-career researchers from diverse biomedical disciplines. In addition, she participated as a Young Principal Investigator, actively engaging in scientific discussions and networking sessions with senior experts and fellow researchers.
During the meeting, Dr. Basu exchanged ideas on ongoing research, funding strategies, and career progression, and openly discussed her academic journey as a scientist. These interactions fostered meaningful collaborations and mentorship opportunities, enriching the collective learning experience. Her dual role as an organizer and participant strengthened the meeting’s impact, promoting knowledge exchange, professional growth, and a supportive research community for emerging scientists.
11th INDIA ALLIANCE ANNUAL CONCLAVE MEETING 2023(13-15 JULY 2023)
The India Alliance represents a distinctive collaboration between the Indian Department of Biotechnology and the Wellcome Trust of the United Kingdom. Its primary goal is to establish a robust and world-class workforce for biomedical research within India, capable of creating a significant global influence. A crucial and immediate requirement of the India Alliance is to champion science communication and encourage the involvement of the public in scientific matters. Workshops centered on science communication are held throughout the year, aimed at sensitizing emerging researchers to the significance of honing their written and verbal communication abilities. These skills are not only essential for advancing their own careers but also play a pivotal role in cultivating public trust and endorsement of scientific endeavors

The Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD), in collaboration with the Society for Mitochondrial Research and Medicine, India (SMRM) is organizing the 9th Annual Conference of the SMRM on the theme “Mitochondria in Biology and Medicine” during 21 — 23 June 2023. This conference included academicians, researchers, and clinicians dealing with the physiology, toxicology, biochemistry, genetics, and molecular biology of mitochondria-associated diseases. This conference has provided an excellent opportunity to discuss the current status and trends in mitochondrial biology and medicine.
ADNAT 2023 International conference, which was organized by the Zoology Department, Banaras Hindu University, in which our research team participated.In this conference, Shwetotpal Mrinal ( Ph.D. scholar) presented research poster based on " A comprehensive human skin, hair & eye pigmentation database" in front of the professors & scientists. All the honourable members took interest in understanding the database poster.
