Experience a Journey with Genophen lab

Understanding the complex genetics of human phenotypic variation is crucial for unraveling biological adaptations in the past and the pathophysiology of accompanying human diseases in present-day populations. Unless we understand what is contributing to normal variation, we cannot understand what goes wrong in disease conditions. Hence, we at GENOPHEN LAB aim to understand the genetics of phenotypic traits, which form the basis of genetic diversity, understand its evolutionary history in past and present, why a certain trait was positively selected, and connect the dots. We are currently focussed on four research areas - understanding the basis of human hair shape diversity, genetics of skin pigmentation, genetics of fingerprint patterning, and understanding the genomics of high altitude populations.Â
