In this artifact are google classroom feedback that I provided on student assignments during student teaching Fall 2022. The top comment was for a sophomore student who was very artistically talented. They did a very good job on their warm up assignments and final project that I had asked my cooperating teacher if she had spoken to them about joining honors and AP art, and my teacher said yes. I remember approaching this student in person and letting know the wonderful job they did. In addition, I left them some feedback about the criteria they didn't meet but letting them know they were going to do great in their future art classes. For the second comment, I provided encouraging but constructive criticism for their project. I let them know the criteria they did and did not meet and reason for the points.
This artifact aligns with IPTS 9M) 'communicates relevant information and ideas effectively to students, parents or guardians, and peers, using a variety of technology and digital-age media and formats''. In this artifact I communicated relevant and constructive feedback in regards to student assignments. In addition, I provided support and encouragement for students to strive and pursure higher level courses.
With this artifact I learned that providing feedback to students is encouraging and lets students know how to improve. Great job adding feedback to students' work as you grade. Giving feedback is so helpful not just with current projects, but understanding expectations for future work.
I learned that there is always room for growth, and as
educators we never stop learning. It's important to
respect and reflect on what constructive feedback we are
provided. This is important, because once we are in the
classroom we will encounter evaluations throughout our careers.
