Chaotic Attractors
(Jared Tarbell Study)

This is a study of the work Peter de Jong by Jared Tarbell, and the initial prompt is partially based on his description of the piece, as well text from Egg’s prompt generator. Rob Haisfield iterated on this piece and I've included his contribution as well. I cover the creation of this generator in more detail in the tutorial.

user (aitechnopagan):

Please create some incredible generative art. Give me controls for the key parameters. Make sure I have a control for the overall speed or timestep. The controls should disappear when the mouse hasn't moved in a few seconds. Use a subtle and restrained colour palette.  Start with a particularly interesting attractor written by Peter De Jong. xn+1 = sin(a yn) - cos(b xn) yn+1 = sin(c xn) - cos(d yn) These images plot the phase space of the Peter d Jong system using arbitrary starting values within the image region.

user (aitechnopagan):

add more controls for additional even more interesting and complex fractal transformations as well as a reset button

user (aitechnopagan):

keep the starting shape but the reset button should give you a blank canvas

user (aitechnopagan):

make the shape black

user (aitechnopagan):

contain the shape inside a sphere and have it interact with the edges

user (rob):

make all of the controls change slowly and at different rates from each other so it smoothly fades into all possible permutations of the controls
