My name is Geethika and I’m a third year Medical Sciences student under the College of Medicine at the University of Cincinnati. I chose to pursue my studies at UC, specifically the College of Medicine, to expand my interest in the field of healthcare as well as being able to take advantage of the vast number of research, internship, and volunteer opportunities on campus and within the city of Cincinnati. I hope to develop first hand skills in scientific research, creative inquiry, as well as working in medical facilities while being mentored by faculty members within the College of Medicine and Children’s Hospital.
Apart from academics, I love to read, travel, and draw/paint. I enjoy visiting math/science museums as well as exploring new places and taking inspiration and recreating artwork through capturing beautiful moments on canvas. Through the University Honors Program at UC, I hope to expand on my hobbies and interests, participating in activities that spark inspiration to motivate my goals.
Throughout the past year, I've had the opportunity to engage in multiple different experiences related to healthcare, specifically through my interactions with patients while volunteering at the hospital, performing research at Children's Hospital regarding orthopedic dystrophies in infants and identifying the biological basis of muscle stiffness that often follows, and job shadowing in multiple clinical professions to expand my knowledge of multiple fields.
I hope to further gain more exposure to the healthcare system, interact with patients, while exploring various fields in medicine. I'm hoping to continue expanding my professional goals and expand my knowledge on specific aspects of medicine through the classes that I take and opportunities that I partake in. Furthermore, I hope to continue my involvement throughout campus while also pursuing my hobbies and interests. Throughout this upcoming year, I'm hoping to seek out new experiences and opportunities, specifically taking advantage of study abroad experiences through experiential learning within the honors program.
