BonusRound: Multiple Deliveries

Bonus Round: Multiple Deliveries

Objective

The team must now deliver several packages, express shipping, in one route using their Zipline Mail Carrier. The locations of the houses will be denoted by several three ringed target beneath the zipline. Teams will complete the objective by sending their Mail Carriers down the zipline while attempting to drop a spherical bean bag on each of the targets below. Points for the round are based on first contact of the bean bag with the ground. Only one bean bag is allowed to be dropped per target per run.

Parameters:

For this round the heights, length, and subsequently the slope of the zipline will be kept constant from round two, the express shipping. The number of targets below the zipline will increase from 1 target to 3 targets. All target parameters will match the target shown in Figure 1, and will be placed at three different distances along the length of the zipline. These distances are denoted as “D1”, “D2”, and “D3” in Figure 4 below. The center of the targets will be in line with the zipline. Day of we will report all parameters in metric units.

Scoring:

Each team will receive a practice run, so they can see how their Mail Carrier slides down the zipline. Nothing is to be dropped from the carrier for this run and the run is not scored. After that each team is allowed 2 scoring runs, between which the team can make adjustments if needed. The team will be scored based on where their package lands in reference to the target area. If the package reaches the center of the target, the team receives 5 points. If the package reaches the middle ring of the target, the team receives 3 points. And if the package reaches the outer ring of the target the team receives 1 point. The team will receive 0 points for a package that does not hit the target. The maximum score from the two runs will be kept.
