Today we are going to see a plan I’ve prepared for 7th grade students and how I’ve implemented Twee.
The aim of the class revising the regular verbs in past tense. This class is part of project where students will be asked to write a biography of a prominent figure who fought for education and equality in different countries around the world like Nelson Mandela, Malala Yousafzai, Sarmiento, etc.
Duration: 40 minutes
Students’ age: 12-13
Number of students: 20
Communicative Goals: Expressing actions in the past
Grammar / Vocabulary Focus: regular verbs in past simple
Recycled Language: free time activities
Activation (5 minutes)
Students will play a Memotest on the board matching pictures to verb phrases of free time activities like “play football, watch TV, listen to music, study maths”, tapping on their prior knowledge.
T will ask students to write the verb phrases on the board after students have taken turns.
Comprehension-Clarification (15 minutes)
Twee will be used in this stage. T will ask the app to create a text about a child who talks about their last weekend and what they did. The text will have the specifications of age, level of English and length suitable for the group.
Then, T will ask Twee to create T/F statements to help students derive/remember that regular verbs in the past simple add -ed.
Students will write in their notebooks the explanation.
