Football Game Volunteer Checklist
Wear Volunteer badge, and return it at end of night
As the band gets into uniform, hand out plumes for their shakos. Plumes should be removed from their cardboard storage tubes metal tab first to avoid damaging the feathers. Oversee that everyone has a full uniform with black shoes and gloves.
Equipment moved to bleachers ahead of the band by “G Force” includes drum major platform, drum stands and drinking water. Water bottles can be filled at the fountain by the kitchen and packed in the cooler on ice, or the water cooler can be filled with ice water and pack disposable cups . Make sure there’s enough water bottles or cups packed for everyone.
Two volunteers should carry first aid backpacks and stay with students. When the band marches to the field walk near the rear on either side to watch for anything dropped
Once the band is settled in the bleachers volunteers hand out water.
Stay alert for any band member needing medical or other assistance
Near the end of the game use a trash bag from your backpack to collect trash. Check that the area is neat before we leave.
Load equipment back into the gater to return to the band room, don’t forget the banner hanging on the fence.
Carry first aid backpacks and follow the band back to the building watching for anything dropped
Carefully return plumes into cardboard tubes metal end first to avoid damaging feathers and zip them back into the storage bag.
Spray Febreze in uniform jackets before students hang them up. Double check that students neatly hang bibs along creases and that jackets are hung straight with pride. Gloves go in the pocket in the back of the garment bag. When all uniforms are hung properly, roll the rack back into the closet.
Encourage the band to clean up quickly so Ms Bryan can lock up and everyone can go home. Scan room for things people may have forgotten or misplaced.
Senior Night: Parents of Seniors will also report to the band room before the game and will escort their student for Senior night festivities before the game. (boosters provide flowers)
Middle School Night: remember to pack extra cups for the middle school students. (boosters provide pizza and drinks before the game.)
Travel/Away Games: 2 volunteers with the first aid backpacks are needed to ride on the bus with the students and band Director. Bring the plumes in their storage bag onto the bus and hand them out as students exit the bus & collect them back before they enter the bus (plumes are too tall to wear in the bus and could get damaged)
