Hi, my name is Yoselin Martinez Xonthé but I go by Yose. My pronouns are she/her. I was born in Mexico but grew up my entire life in San Francisco's Mission District.
I was the first in my family to graduate high school, and college. I went to Sacred Heart Cathedral and SF State. During my time in college and after I DJd using all vinyl and played a bit of my faves like funk, oldies, disco, Bay Area rap, 80's freestyle, and more. I became very involved in my neighborhood throughout my late teens and early 20's which allowed me to connect with so many people and learn more about the work I wanted to involve myself in.
I worked at Good Samaritan Family Resource Center where I ran girl's support groups at Everett Middle School and helped run the Latinx Student Union club at John O'Connell High School where I taught them how to write grants and throw community events with an emphasis on healing community and self.
I later became a high school teacher at John O'Connell and taught Ethnic Studies, World History, and the CTE class for the Public Service Pathway.
Last year I was a substitute and this year I am honored to support and learn from you all.
