When gathering news for our broadcasts and segments, I had to first find reliable and relevant information that is going on in the community. At the beginning of each nine weeks, our entire class would pitch ideas for what news and sports stories we can do for our videos, and then our advisor and officers decide when each story idea should be produced. As Executive Producer, it was one of my main jobs to make sure that we produce reliable, ethical, and factually correct content and stories. To bring these stories to life, I had to go out and gather the information and clips for each story. Below are examples of different ways that I used to gather this information in Tiger TV.
These three images are screenshots of text messages before we filmed a news story with the Mayor of Batesville and the Panola County Economic Developer. It is important to have good communication skills between the interviewer and interviewee, so the story can be completed in a safe, timely, and ethical way.
One of the biggest news-gathering events that we work on each year is our football games. Since we work both home and away games and can get separated at times, it is important to have a game plan before each Friday night. Both of these are pictures of a layout that I created of what camera/ job each person has for each half of the football game. This helps keep our team organized and efficient so we can gather as much content as we can.
This is our event sign-up sheet that we use to sign up for all sporting, news, and other events to work at around the school. This is one of the major ways we gather pictures, videos, and information that we use for our broadcasts. Every member of our media group has to attend at least 2-3 events each quarter to ensure that we can gather as much content as possible.
