I used to be the Executive Producer for our Tiger TV media group, and it was my job to lead, guide, teach, and help the rest of the members of our team in everything we do. It was also my responsibility to make sure that all of our posts and broadcasts are good quality content and get shared correctly and on time. I helped our advisor plan out our goals and tasks for the week ahead, as well as made sure that the energy and atmosphere of the classroom stay uplifting and productive. I am extremely grateful for my position as Executive Producer as I have loved every second of it, and I have not only been able to help grow others, but I have also grown myself.
I have held a leadership position in Tiger TV for the past two years, and I have used these positions to help grow, strengthen, and further our club to the best of my abilities. I have not only learned so much from my time as Executive Producer, but I have also taught and helped my team along the way. When I started in Tiger TV in 2022, we had only 30 people try out. Still, through hard work, dedication, and determination, I, alongside many others, have helped grow this organization to have now over 150 students try out every year.
Last year, I was the Sports Media Manager of our Tiger TV group, and I helped manage anything and everything sports-related that we did. I would help organize and plan peoples' jobs at sporting events, assist with editing the weekly football promos, and make sure that our sports stories and segments for the weekly broadcasts were of the best quality. I loved and cherished this position as I have always had a passion for sports, and it was the first officer position I held during my time at Tiger TV.
This is a quick video of when sophomore reporter, Alberto Diaz, taught our very first session called "Creating Award Winning Hype Videos" at last year's MSPA Convention in Oxford, MS. I wanted to teach a session to lead by example to the other members of Tiger TV, and it turned out to be so much fun! We had every seat in the room filled, and everyone was interacting and engaged. A group of 6 of us also got to attend the IMC Connect Convention in March to learn more about Journalism opportunities across Mississippi.
This is a picture of a few of us going out to eat at a local restaurant in Como, Mississippi to spend time with each other right before our first football game of the season at Northwest Community College.
This image shows me going over the outline and plan for the broadcasts and stories for the week with former Executive Producer, Tyra Walton.
Trunk or Treat is one of my favorite events of the year, so I loved getting to design and create this red-carpet runway-themed trunk for last year's booth.
I believe that spending quality time with my Tiger TV crew is the best way to succeed, so I have hosted an annual Christmas party at my house for the past 2 years, where we eat, open gifts, and play games.
"Gabbie was a huge help when I was learning the ins and outs of broadcast journalism during my first year. She was always eager to help and give you tips on how to improve your content and still keep the class enjoyable while doing so!"
-Laiyla Pride, Tiger TV Senior Reporter
""Gabriella Russo's influence and leadership as executive producer has been extremely helpful and inspiring. Every project she creates is very entertaining, and when I am in need of help, she never fails to assist me."
-Gabrielle Jones, Tiger TV Chief Editor
"Gabbie is a wonderful person and is great at so many different things. She has helped and taught me so much during my time in Tiger TV. She has not only taught me how to edit, use cameras, speak on broadcasts, and report at sporting events, but she has also helped and encouraged me so much to never give up when things get challenging."
-Cella Carver, Tiger TV Sophomore Member
