INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP
The Directorate of Secondary Education of Rhodope participated in TECH-EDU 2026 – the 5th International Conference on Technology and Innovation in Learning, Teaching and Education.
During the conference, Vaya Sereti, Educational Consultant for Greek Language and Literature Teachers, and Quality Supervisor of Education in Rhodope, presented the Erasmus+ project "Future Classroms: AI-Driven Innovation in Education”. She also facilitated an experiential workshop focusing on the use of Artificial Intelligence in lesson planning, formative assessment, responsible AI use, and the development of a shared school policy regarding the use of AI in student assignments.
Participants from different countries exchanged experiences, collaborated on practical examples, and explored educational tools and approaches that can be directly and pedagogically responsibly applied in the classroom.
AI TOOLS FOR TEACHING AND LEARNING
A school-based teacher training workshop on “Teaching and Learning with Artificial Intelligence” was held on 2nd of April 2026 at the 2nd Junior High School of Chrysoupolis.
The workshop was facilitated by Vayia Sereti, Quality Supervisor of Education in Rodopi and Teachers trainer in ICT, Pandora Markou, teacher of Greek Language, and Vicky Vlachogianni, teacher of Physical Education.
Teachers got informed about the project and explored practical classroom applications of Mentimeter, Napkin AI, and Storyboard That, focusing on student engagement, visual learning, creativity, and AI-supported teaching.
DIGITAL TOOLS AND AI APPLICATIONS IN TEACHING PRACTICE
On Thursday, 26 February 2026, the Directorate of Secondary Education of Rodopi organised an online professional development session entitled “Digital Tools and Artificial Intelligence Applications in Teaching Practice.”
The training was delivered by Georgios Chorozidis, PE02 teacher, and Stylianos Chatziagapiou, PE86 teacher.
During the session, teachers explored Code AI, Brisk Teaching, and other digital and AI applications, examining practical ways in which these tools can support lesson planning, the creation of educational material, student engagement and everyday classroom practice. Brisk Teaching is an AI-supported educational platform designed for teachers and schools.
The activity aimed to strengthen teachers’ digital competences and promote the pedagogically informed use of Artificial Intelligence in education, in alignment with the objectives of the Erasmus+ KA210-SCH project “Future Classrooms: AI-Driven Innovation in Education.”
CREATING 5E LESSON SCENARIOS WITH AI TOOLS
On 17 February 2026, the Directorate of Secondary Education of Rodopi organised a two-hour professional development workshop for teacher mentors and in-school coordinators at the Computer Laboratory of the 1st Vocational Upper Secondary School of Komotini.
The workshop, entitled “Creating Lesson Scenarios with the 5E Model and the Use of AI Tools,” focused on the pedagogically informed integration of Artificial Intelligence into lesson planning. Participants explored how the stages of the **5E instructional model—Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate and Evaluate—**can support the design of structured, student-centred learning activities enhanced by digital and AI tools.
The training was facilitated by Konstantinos Dragogiannis, Chaidou Grammenou and Vagia Sereti. Teachers' scenarios were presented by Artemis Archontogiorgi.
The activity contributed to the continuing professional development of educators and supported schools in strengthening their role as professional learning communities committed to innovation and the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence in education.
DIFFERENTIATION AND AI
A professional development session on differentiated instruction was organised on 19 February 2026 in Intercultural High School of Sappes to support teachers in designing inclusive, student-centred learning experiences that respond to differences in students’ readiness, interests, linguistic backgrounds and learning needs.
During the session, participants explored practical strategies such as Think–Pair–Share, Four Corners, peer coaching and the Jigsaw method. Working collaboratively, teachers examined how a common learning objective can be maintained for all students while the level of support, learning process, grouping arrangements and final product are adapted appropriately.
Artificial Intelligence was incorporated into the training as a practical tool for supporting differentiated lesson planning. Participants explored how AI can assist teachers in adapting texts and instructions, generating activities at different levels of readiness, creating vocabulary support and sentence frames, designing alternative learning products and preparing formative assessment tasks. At the same time, the importance of critically reviewing AI-generated content and ensuring its pedagogical appropriateness, accuracy and inclusiveness was highlighted.19 February
CREATING CONTENT WITH AI
As part of our teacher training activities, educators participated on 28 November 2025 in an online workshop, where the informed about the project and the course and explored the creative potential of AI tools. Participants explored how the PixVerse AI can transform static images into engaging animated videos for the classroom. Educators designed educational resources across a wide range of subjects—including Literature, History, Biology, Mathematics, Computer Science and Religious Education—demonstrating how AI-powered animations can make abstract concepts easier to understand and historical or literary scenes more vivid.
The workshop encouraged teachers to experiment with innovative teaching approaches that foster student engagement, creativity and visual learning. By combining pedagogy with Artificial Intelligence, participants discovered new ways to enrich classroom experiences and create dynamic educational content tailored to their students' needs.
AI TOOLS IN TEACHING PRACTICE: PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP IN KOMOTINI
On Tuesday, 24 June 2025, a two-hour professional development workshop entitled “Integrating Artificial Intelligence Tools into Teaching Practice” was held at the Computer Laboratory of the 1st Vocational Upper Secondary School of Komotini.
The workshop was organised and delivered by the PE84 Education Consultant of Rodopi, Kostas Dragogiannis and the PE02 Education Consultant of Rodopi, Vayia Sereti. The seminar focused on the educational use of Artificial Intelligence and its meaningful integration into everyday teaching practice, supporting educators in developing their digital competences and exploring contemporary approaches to teaching and learning. Teachers had the chance to work with AI tools like vidnose that create videos from texts and photos.
