It feels like it’s been ages since I last posted a Mountain Dew review. Allow me to share some Dew-related updates from the past few months.
First, I tasted the latest Taco Bell exclusive flavor, Baja Midnight. Unfortunately, I think the syrup may have been running low in the machine, because the flavor was barely there and super watery. I wanted to wait and give it another chance before I wrote a review, but the next time I tried to order it, my DoorDasher brought me regular Baja Blast instead. Hopefully I’ll be able to experience Baja Midnight properly and give you guys a write-up on it eventually.
[The remainder of this post has been omitted here because it doesn't relate to Baja Midnight.]

A few months ago, I told you guys about my initial experience with Baja Midnight, the newest Taco Bell-exclusive Mountain Dew. For those who didn’t see that post, it was very watery and nearly flavorless the first time I tried it, leading me to believe that I caught it at a time when the machine was low on syrup. I wanted to wait and taste it properly before I wrote a review on it.
Well, I’m happy to say that I’ve drank it a couple more times since then, and the subsequent experiences were much more enjoyable. So, I’m ready to give you folks the full review now.
Baja Midnight is a passionfruit-flavored variant of Baja Blast. If that concept sounds weirdly familiar to you, it’s probably because Mountain Dew already released a passionfruit-flavored variant of Baja Blast back in 2023. That drink was called Baja Passionfruit Punch, and it was excellent.
Honestly, Baja Midnight and Baja Passionfruit Punch are VERY, VERY similar. The only difference I can really detect is that the flavors are a bit more mixed in Baja Midnight. With Baja Passionfruit Punch, you get passionfruit on the primary taste and Baja Blast on the aftertaste. With Baja Midnight, you still get the Baja Blast aftertaste, but you also get some Baja Blast on the primary taste alongside the passionfruit. Other than that, they’re pretty much the same. Even the color looks the same.
Like I said, Baja Passionfruit Punch is excellent, so I’m not complaining. Baja Midnight is basically a slight upgrade to what was already a great Dew— or at least, it is as long as Taco Bell keeps enough syrup in their soda machine. That annoying little caveat is the only negative thing I have to say about Baja Midnight.
If you like passionfruit, I definitely recommend giving this one a try the next time you’re at Taco Bell. Just make sure that it’s got that nice, gorgeous, purple color when it’s coming out of the tap.
