Students are able to:
Addition of mixed numerals and fractions with unrelated denominators.
Students are given a demonstration of how to add mixed number fractions using a calculator
This game will vary depending on how advanced your students are.
Break them into partnerships to play. Give each pair two dice labeled with mixed numbers; more advanced mathematicians can play with three, four, or even five dice. The first player rolls the dice and use a calculator to get the sum. Then, the second player takes a turn.
The goal is to get to 10 or 100 first, depending on the mathematical level of your students. The first player to get close to 10 or 100 without going over is the winner of the round.

Students are to work on this activity individually. The pieces of the worksheet on the RHS will be mixed up for students to sort out and paste into their books. Students are to confirm their answers with the person next to them and with the teacher.
Students pair up to solve Tarsia puzzle
Students are to write in their books the mixed equations and and their respective answers in their notebook.
Swap Tarsia cards with another pair until the end of the lesson.
