Netflix is currently developing an Avatar series, which should be on Netflix next November. The teaser trailer looks reasonable, but it's probably not going to be as great as the animated series.

Because Netflix probably knows about the The Last Airbender failure, they'll try and make it better than that, but there's only so much you can do if you're live action.
