The aim of this website is to document and share the learning of Dagny Sveinsdottir for the Hordweard Challenge issued at Spring War AS LIV (2019). As it is a living document, this site will undergo frequent changes to content and format over the duration of the challenge. I'm very excited to share my Hordweard journey with you...
I am a craftsperson and merchant from the Barony of Mordenvale in the Kingdom of Lochac. I play a Viking Age woman who likes to weave cloth and fine ribbons. I am the wife of Lord Bjorn Saemundarson, and together we participate in a Viking Age Encampment known as Nyr Kaupang at some events. We also merchant as Knarr Traders offering fine goods for gold or trade.
I am excited to contribute to the Hordweard Challenge this year! I have been awaiting an opportunity to explore and experiment with a few crafts that I have not had the time to devote to recently... namely hand spinning and plant dyeing yarn! I'm thrilled to be working alongside many talented artisans as we journey toward the Hordweard together. If you're interested in my journey, I will be documenting my research and progress on this site to share my learning with you.

This project began as a year long, exploratory deep dive into my experimental archaeology practice. As event after event has been cancelled, re-schedualled, and cancelled again, my Hordweard journey has continued. For the last 18 months, I have continued to experiment and explore, to build skills and relationships, and deepen my understanding of the ancient craft of tablet weaving. It has been some time since I have updated this site with my progress with any kind of frequency - I hope to change this over the coming months. Thank you for reading - I hope you find this helpful for your own practice.
