Please share with everyone who attended today, and please encourage them to invite any members of our district office team to present at PTA/PTO Meetings. Working together, we will be able to reach our families. We are also looking at ways to utilize current technology to communicate and inform our parents and community.

Student Advocacy Specialist:
The purpose of the position of Student Advocacy Specialist (SAS) is direct interaction with selected “high risk” students k-12. These high risk students may be identified by school administration, school counselors, the Department of School Safety, the Department of Special Education, or Student Support Services. No student will be placed on the caseload of a SAS without final approval from the Department of School Safety.
SAS’s are not expected to conduct medical or therapeutic sessions as this would be out of the scope of their training. However, they are expected to maintain a basic knowledge to help deescalate difficult situations with students and to participate in supportive conversation with their students.
All SAS’s will report to School Safety only. No outside responsibilities (including coaching) will be added to the caseload unless approved by school safety.
SAS’s will maintain a flexible schedule that will allow for travel as well as support meetings after normal school hours. SAS’s are not required to do in home visits when they feel it is not safe.
Students should be visited a minimum of one time a week.
