Davis Hall, University of Northern Iowa
Get ready to move, play, create, and make music together! James Allen’s hands-on workshop explores the power of ancient percussion instruments through improvisation, composition, movement, speech, and play.
Journey through the four elements of the earth as we combine drumming, body percussion, playful speech, movement, folk dancing, and unpitched instruments to create a vibrant musical and visual tapestry. Expect lots of collaboration, laughter, creativity, and a strong sense of inclusion as we make music together.
You’ll leave energized and inspired—with practical ideas you can bring directly into your classroom, along with new tools and greater confidence in improvisation, composition, and creative music-making.
