I practiced teaching on February 14, 2025, in two classes from 7:20 AM to 9:20 AM. Sir Bobby, my supervisor, let me teach during his usual schedule so he could easily watch and evaluate me.
At the start of the first class, I asked the class president to lead the prayer, which they usually do. After the prayer, I got the students talking by asking about the video they watched last time. The video was about a play called The Sandbox. I asked simple questions like, "Who are the characters?" and "How do they affect the story?". The students answered with excitement, showing they understood the story well. It was great to see them involved and sharing their ideas. Next, I explained what absurd theater is and how it connects to The Sandbox. I talked about the main ideas and themes of the play to help them understand it better. I encouraged them to think about the characters and the strange parts of the story, asking questions to spark discussion.
During the lesson, I noticed that some students were unsure about answering questions. They might have felt nervous because I was teaching instead of Sir Bobby. I kept encouraging them and reminded them that it was okay to share their thoughts. I wanted to create a safe space where they could express themselves. As we talked more, it became clear that many students understood the characters and their actions. They were able to connect their answers with the themes of the play, which made our conversation richer.
At the end of the class, I introduced two types of reasoning from Sir bobby PowerPoint: inductive and deductive reasoning. I explained these ideas simply and gave clear examples so everyone could follow. I encouraged students to use these reasoning models in their own words. I was happy to see that they quickly understood how to apply these concepts. After class, I wanted to celebrate our time together, so I invited the students to take a group photo. It was a fun way to end the lesson and make a good memory. Overall, I felt that my teaching practice went well, and I was pleased to see how engaged and understanding the students were throughout the lesson.
