Julia S. Bachrach, historian and preservationist, is the author of The City in a Garden: A History of Chicago’s Parks. She served as lead historian on the Historic Properties Identification Report for DuSable North Lake Shore Drive, a project that provided intensive research on hundreds of buildings along the lakefront from Hollywood Avenue to the Chicago River.
