Verse 1

This first verse was fairly easy to animate, all things considered. The majority of it was done in Adobe Photoshop and was mostly frame-to-frame animation. Of course, it's a significant part of the music video, displaying the more day-to-day struggles that the two siblings endure, and so I tried to focus all of my attention on getting the correct facial expressions and body language to make sure my messaging was coming off clearly. I think this was successful; I think I especially managed to capture Uko's anguish and confusion with his face and movements.

The final part of this animation, where the father throws a bottle towards the mother, was the only section animated in OpenToonz. It took a little while to get the glass animation to look good and to get the throw to look smooth and natural; however, once I did, I think this part of the animation turned into one of the best in the entire music video.
