Description: The MSW Truth and Reconciliation Student Collective (TRC) was established in September 2022 by FIFSW MSW student allies. Our goal is to deepen understanding of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action and to identify ways to address the ongoing impacts of colonization on First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Peoples (FMI). Our objectives include educating ourselves about the Calls to Action (definitely encourage peers to come with curiosity and an open mind), conversing with like-minded individuals, and actively responding through meaningful allyship. A key priority is holding the University of Toronto accountable for its 2017 commitment to provide students with specific training on the history and legacy of residential schools, as well as Indigenous-led approaches to family health, healing, and well-being. This collective plays a vital role in advancing reconciliation by promoting education, allyship, and institutional accountability in response to the TRC’s recommendations. This group is inclusive and extends to all MSW, ITR, and Advanced Standing students
