In my future career as an educator, I have realized classroom observations are an important first step. Through this field study, I took the opportunity to engage myself in the classroom and notice the interactions between teachers and students, teaching methods and class management strategies. Though I am not a full-fledged teacher yet, this experience had taught me a great deal of valuable lessons, toward what a real teacher feels.
I observed how teachers differentiate instruction based on learning types, use authentic discussions to involve students, and deal with the unexpected. I learnt what works and what does not work simply by observing how students would respond to different teaching methods and gauge their interest based on the subject, teaching style and environment.
