MeLissa Katona was raised in Kentucky, attended Muhlenberg North High School, and received her Bachelor Degree in Music Education at Murray State University, later her masters in Music Education at Oakland University, and went to get a math certification from UM-Flint.

Ms. Katona moved to Michigan in 1999 and began her teaching career at Bendle public schools teaching Elementary music, Spanish, Technology, and Communications. Four years ago she landed on the door steps of Doyle Ryder and has never looked back.

She lives with her beloved son and insane dogs.

Her Motto for teaching: I'm not here to create great musicians. I am here to create great people through music. If Mozart happens to cross my path, I am blessed that much more.
