Mr. Lynch

Alan H. Lynch began his music education in the Albion Public Schools. He was in the band and choir for all four years of high school. He went on to study at Albion College, where he graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education. While teaching in Minnesota, Mr. Lynch went on to study education at University of St. Thomas where he became certified in the Kodály method of teaching music. Mr. Lynch moved to Flint in 2002 and has primarily taught middle and high school students. When the International Baccalaureate Programme was in Flint schools, Mr. Lynch taught both the Middle Years Programme and the Diploma Programme. A majority of the students in the Diploma Programme passed the music test. Mr. Lynch has also taken choirs to the MSVMA State Choral Festival and high school soloists to the MSVMA State Solo and Ensemble Festival. Mr. Lynch tries to foster a feeling of family within his classroom as he challenges his students to do their best. In the coming years, Mr. Lynch hopes to lead more students to qualify for these and other state events and share their love of music from all cultures.
