Ms. Forys

Ms. Forys has been playing music since she was 7 years old by taking piano lessons then starting percussion in 5th grade. She grew up in North Branch, Michigan and graduated from North Branch High School in 2000. Along with being in concert band, marching band, jazz band, and pep band in high school, she was also part of the percussion studio, under the direction of Delania Oberman, at the Flint Institute of Music. After graduating high school, Ms. Forys went to Western Michigan University and earned her bachelor’s degree in Instrumental Music Education in 2005. She then continued her education at the University of Michigan-Flint earning her Master’s degree in Educational Technology in 2010. This is Ms. Forys’ 14th year of teaching. She has taught music for every grade level from preK-12th grade and in both Catholic and public schools as well as the Flint Institute of Music. Since starting work at Flint Community Schools in 2018, Ms. Forys has taught 7th and 8th grade bands and 7th and 8th grade technology. She really loves teaching at the Jr. High level and hopes to build a successful Jr. High band program for FCS. Ms. Forys enjoys spending time with her family, playing in her band with her boyfriend, going out to restaurants, and kayaking. She has a dog named Legend and 3 children: Molly, Shannon, and Eric.
