Launched in 2018-2019 the Engaged Communities project focus on the history and heritage of Fawdon and Coxlodge. This has involved a school project for primary schools (researching and exploring the area, interviewing the elderly), community projects (interviews to the elderly people of our communities, collecting pictures of the area through social media), workshops and a final exhibition at Fawdon Community Centre where the results of the project will be displayed.
We have partnered with two local primary schools, Regent Farm and North Fawdon. Pupils, teachers, parents and family members have been encouraged to know more about their area and to collect stories and memories. We have visited the schools and delivered talks to the pupils about the history of their area. The kids and their teachers have developed an small exhibition that has been displayed during on of our community events at Fawdon Community Centre on the 25th of May 2019.
We have created a Facebook group that engages people from the community to share their photos of Fawdon, developing a virtual, shared memory of the community.
The results from project have been displayed in an exhibition and community event at Fawdon Community centre on the 25th of May 2019, featuring pictures and objects that were collected during the project.
