FACT secures £5,000 Capacity Fund grant for Fawdon South

We are delighted to announce that Fawdon and Coxlodge Together (FACT) has been awarded £5,000 through the Pride in Place Capacity Fund to support a new programme of community engagement in Fawdon South.

Running from September 2026 to February 2027, the project will launch the Fawdon South Community Ideas Café and Neighbourhood Action Programme, under the theme “Hopes, Dreams and Doing”. The programme will include 12 community sessions, six pop-up outreach activities, neighbourhood walks and project-building workshops, culminating in a Fawdon South Ideas Fair.

The aim is to make sure that local people have a real opportunity to shape what happens next in Fawdon South. We will be getting out into the neighbourhood, listening to residents about what they value, what they would like to change, and what new projects they would like to see developed. The ideas and priorities gathered will help inform the Pride in Place Regeneration Plan and turn local suggestions into practical proposals for future investment.

Two FACT Steering Committee Members Join the Pride in Place Board for Fawdon South

We are delighted to share that two members of FACT’s Steering Committee, Dr Thea Ravasi and Ann Marie Nicol, have joined the Pride in Place Board for Fawdon South. They will work tirelessly to represent the interests of our community, help ensure that local voices are heard, and contribute to shaping priorities and future investment in Fawdon South. We are proud to see FACT represented on the Board and look forward to working together to help make Fawdon South an even better place to live.

FACT meets Council Officers and Catherine McKinnell MP to outline some of our ideas for Fawdon and Coxlodge

Our area has been awarded £20 million over the next 10 years through the Government's Price in Place programme. The funding will improve neighbourhoods and empower local people by improving local parks, streets and public spaces, strengthening community groups and organisations, supporting arts, culture and community activities, increasing access to services and support; creating opportunities for skills, training and employment. FACT met with Council Officers and with Catherine McKinnell MP to outline some of our ideas for the area, and we will be proactive within our community to help deliver the objectives of the programme.

FACT secures £3,000 Small Sparks Plus Fund grant for Growing Fawdon Together

We’re excited to launch Growing Fawdon Together a new community-led environmental and wellbeing project designed to bring local people together, improve Dykefield and encourage greater care for our shared green spaces. Through volunteer planting sessions, a community treasure hunt, environmental activities with a local primary school and a final community celebration at Fawdon Community Centre, the project will create opportunities for residents of all ages to learn new skills, spend time outdoors and connect with others. Developed in response to local conversations and Fawdon & Coxlodge Greenways community survey in 2025, Growing Fawdon Together will focus on practical action, biodiversity, recycling and community pride. The project is funded by the Small Sparks Plus Fund.

FACT secretary David Faulkner OBE awarded the Freedom of Newcastle

David Faulkner OBE has been made an Honorary Freeman of Newcastle, recognising more than five decades of service to the city and its communities. The honour was presented during a special ceremony at Newcastle’s Civic Centre, where David received a framed scroll from the Lord Mayor, Cllr Henry Gallagher, in front of family, friends, and colleagues who have supported him throughout his long career of public service. Our warmest congratulations to David for this enormous achievement!
