Housing: Much of this is in keeping with the recently passed Strategic Plan to 2051 and the plan to ease the homelessness crisis. I observed the Council meetings, listening to many terrific delegations and was very pleased when the plans were passed.
I believe that a person's level of compassion, understanding and non - judgmental attitude correlates to a person's personal contact with our most vulnerable citizens. It is my hope that we can help more people regarding their level of compassion, understanding and caring. This will be of great benefit to us all. "
Public Safety: I have worked extensively with Police during my twenty - five year career in child protection. I noted a significant positive shift in police attitudes over the years and recall commenting to police, "You do really good social work." Having said that, I am very supportive of this proposed shift in public safety and prefer to see Police budget money used in this way. Many people, especially black youth/ men have experienced targeting, for example, and feel uncomfortable around police, especially those in uniform. This plan offers viable solutions and takes the feelings and needs of these people into account.
Indigenous Sovereignty: I really love this plan and believe that it is long overdue.
Social Services: Excellent, comprehensive plan!!
Transportation: Great plan and we need it to protect our environment and our citizens.
Other: If elected, I will work with Better Vision Waterloo, community/ environmental groups and local politicians to facilitate this plan in conjunction with Waterloo Region's Strategic Plan to 2051.
Housing: I endorse sanction of some encampments but not all are viable or in a suitable location.
