Temperatures are cooler at high elevation than at low elevation. For example, on July day, the temperature at the base of Mount Fuji in Japan is 80ºF, but the temperature at the summit is below freezing. Why? (Hint: The elevation of Mount Fuji is 12,488 feet.)
