Eventides hosts all of your groups' information through Google Sheets. This section will help you understand the benefits of using google sheet, what kind of information is hosted and what changes can be done.
Google Sheets allows various people to view and edit the information hosted in a sheet. This system allows us to keep all the relevant information for a group in one place that can be seen and altered by the owner of the group and admins. This makes sure everyone has the most up-to-date information for a group at all times.
Whenever you join and create a group, you will receive a link to a Google Sheet spreadsheet with all of the cats that currently call that group their home. You can edit almost everything regarding this sheet, with only a select exceptions that are required for the proper function of the game.
When you first receive your sheet, it may look something similar to this:
Each column is labeled after a letter, and each row is given a number. Information is hosted within a cell. For example, the name Eveningstar is found in cell C2. You can edit all the information freely with the exception of IDs, Health, Geno and Pheno.
REF
This column can hold links to a cat's reference sheet. There are no particular rules as to what a reference sheet needs to look like, so you're free to create your own in a style you like (or none at all!). If you end up making one, and want somewhere to link it, this is your place to go!
References are perfect for depicting a cat's build, accessories, injuries and show off your artistic styles!
ID
IDs are assigned to every cat the moment they are created. IDs cannot be changed.
Name
Your cat's name. You'll want this name to always match the ID Masterlist, so if you change a cat's name be sure to hop into the #updates channel and let us know which cat has had their name changed.
You can name your cat anything, as long as it follows our Naming Rules.
Sex and Gender
While originally in separate columns, you're free to include them in the same column. Sex will always refer to the cat's assigned sex at birth, while gender refers to their identity. We are open to all sorts of (non-offensive) pronouns and identities, we only ask that you stay respectful if you choose or choose not to use them. A cat's sex cannot be changed in the ID masterlist, as it is linked to their genotype, and genders are not listed in the masterlist; but you're more than welcome to include the information in the sheet and references.
Rank
When you first receive your sheet, you might find that the Rank column is either empty or has your cat's age in there. Ranks are fully customizable to your group's traditions and cats can change ranks freely. We do not keep track of your cats' ranks, only their official age.
Status
Cats usually start with healthy status, but it may change as you participate in various activities within the game. You can check all currently available statuses here. If you have a non-official, temporary status that you would like to apply, you can add it to this column; as long as the status isn't officially listed in the ID masterlist, it won't affect your gameplay. This means you can freely injure your cats any time you like for plot purposes, or have additional statuses not tracked by the group.
Health
How much health your cat has left. They always start at 100% but may lower as your cat gets sick or becomes injured. If a cat's health reaches 0% they will be labeled as deceased and removed from the group, so be careful!
Geno & Pheno
These columns relate to your cat's appearance. The genotype (geno) is the genetic string that determines their looks and what genes are passed down when they breed, while the phenotype (pheno) is an English translation of the geno.
L# or Litter Number
This is the total amount of times your cat may breed. Litter numbers are randomized for starter cats, and randomized between the parent's Litter Numbers when breeding. In the ID masterlist, you will find how many times your cat can still breed, rather than the total it can breed. The ID Masterlist number will lower every time your cat breeds and will automatically assign the sterile status to a cat that has 0 litters left.
All of these changes should be handled through the #updates or #help channels
Color changes
You can request to color your sheet in different colors to better match your group's aesthetic. Having a set color palette in mind is required, and an idea of where to place those colors is strongly preferred.
Cat order
You can request a different order for your cats, but keep in mind that this will not alter the order of their IDs. Please make a list with the new order you'd like, or let us know which cats need to be moved around.
