eTwinning is a platform that develops collaboration and communication among teachers and students. This year we are to focus on how important is for us to teach our students the importance of critical thinking skills, so that manipulation via mass media tools could be less common in the modern society.

Here is a video, that my students and I managed to talk about while working on the eTwinning project ‘’Strengthening Media Literacy”. A video that informs on the types of manipulation. Feel free to use the video at your lessons anytime!

Students were introduced to the topic and were asked about the rules of safety and what information can be disclosed while online. We have managed to set some rules as to manage the limits of online interactions.

The students have compiled a set of rules they consider important to share. The video contains a specific guidline and makes the online process of searching the internet much more secure.  

Raisa Pacalo College and PITL Onisifor Ghibu, have managed to discuss the effects of the Pandemics and misinformation when it comes to COVID 19. We have managed to create a platform of terms to be comprehended and the concepts of manipulation, propaganda and information fast food have been discussed. 

The project has helped identifying the issues children tackle with while being online. The pandemics has opened doors to much abuse and the students have to be informed and parents need to collaborate with the authorities in order to protect the children from any online abuse.

The project has resulted in a collaboration with America House, on the topic: Fast Food informational - realitate sau fictiune? The project was national and students participated online. Topics were discussed and managed as to provoke students' critical and complex thinking skills.

We had an amazing Radio Programme on Media Literacy. Thank you to our host students for their great programme as well as effort, thank you for the information you supply with us and thanks to everyone who participated in our Radio Programme. 

The radio interviews were held to promote students' collaboration and openness to ask questions that might feel difficult to ask. Some journalistic skills have been developed as well as the concept of professional development skills.

Students have been grouped to tackle the issues of online risks when it comes to being too open with your personal information. Students have been informed as well tested with the help of a kahoot game.

Astăzi, în data de 15 iunie 2022, Catedra Filologie Engleză a Facultății Limbi și Literaturi Străine, în colaborare cu Centrul American din cadrul #UPSC, a organizat și a desfășurat simpozionului: «Building social and civic literacy as a route to active citizenship – From student to active citizen». 

Evenimentul s-a realizat în format online, având drept limbă de coumincare – limba engleză și a urmărit scopul de dezvoltare a componentei: relații interinstuționale, de colaborare pentru mediul civic național; schimbul de experință și promovarea bunelor practici în domeniul predării-învățării limbii engleze,  fomarea imaginii de sine și mediul civic național; informarea referitor posibilități de participare în proiecte civice pentru treapta liceală, universitară, națională, etc.

La atelier au participat 30 profesori de limbă engleză, lectori/conferențiari universitari și studenți (gimnazii, licee, colegii, universități). Agenda evenimentului a inclus deschiderea în plen, prezentări tematice urmate de dezbateri, întrebări/răspunsuri și sugestii.

În cadrul simpozionului, lucrări tematice  au fost prezentate de dr. Victoria Mascaliuc, subiectul „Active citizenship as the language practice of democracy”; Cernei Kristina:  „SDD, MEP - Developing critical thinking skills based on optional syllabus”; Irina Pomazanovschi: „Discovering elements of culture during English lessons” și de către dna dr. Danielle Aldawood: „Creating Lessons that Build Digital & News Literacy”.
