During my internship with yaldi games i was able to learn so much and be a part of a wonderfully talented and kind team.
The assignments I was given felt meaningful and taught me so much about working in a team, working with limited resources and helped me improve my skills and knowledge as a designer.
I was able to work with many talented people, such as the CEO Elena Höge and Andrew Brennwald, and I have made immense professional and personal improvements due to their help and advice about my work, the industry and how to function well in a professional setting.
The Photo Quests ended up being the culmination of all I learned during my time at Yaldi Games. Suggesting what quests could become photo quests required me to have a great understanding of the narrative, and any newly suggested quest needed to fit and add to that same narrative.
Planning out the eventual quest required me to adapt a workflow that can be easily understood and handed over.
Making sure the quests and subjects account for the environmental changes and time-sensitive plants and landmarks also gave me more knowledge of the game engine and systems.
As a narrative design intern, I was given the opportunity to evaluate the existing quests and loosely planned plot points to help make suggestions and write new quests for the game's autumn chapter.
Many of my suggestions ended up being used and were well received by Elena in writing the eventual final draft of the narrative.
Creating a UI overview not only helped during concept creation later on and sped up everyone's workflow, but it also gave me a workflow that brought clarity to the entire team and me.
One of the first tasks I was given after first playing the game was to design, concept and pitch systems that would improve and encourage exploration. Over the course of these tasks, I was able to greatly improve my visual language and pitching capabilities using user stories, timelines, quick mockups and a gold sliver bronze system that helped keep the resource ask low while still fulfilling the need.
