Blind Faith is a PSX-style horror game inspired by doomed cults and Gothic Americana. In Blind Faith the player uses a “praying” mechanic closing their eyes until the stress meter decreases. Stress is visualized as a creeping fog that pursues the player throughout the mansion and mazes of a long lost cult.
For the game’s environment, I created 3D models of the mansion and church in Blender, later filling them with a mix of previously made assets and public ones. I also used this project as an opportunity to experiment with post-processing and other strong visual effects.
The gothic Midwestern theme was something I had wanted to explore in a game for a long time. The “praying” mechanic was another element I was particularly interested in due to the vulnerability it portrays and therefor its effectiveness in a horror setting.
