I was always interested in learning new languages. Though to be very honest, I was never very good at it. I am very glad I was able to learn English and Chinese when I was young, as learning a new language as an adult has been challenging. I've used Memrise before and found it to be a good learning app that requires consistency. Memrise offers a refreshing approach to language learning, one that feels both more innovative and effective than traditional approaches I've tried before. Moreover, the platform's user-generated content has been interesting for me. The ability to access courses created by native speakers added a level of authenticity and diversity.

Additionally, based on the company's blog, they carefully track learning trends and develop new technology that might improve their user learning experience. For example, they recognize that music from different countries are making global impact. Working with learner's passion, they developed music-based courses to help motivate learners to gain deeper understanding in their favourite artist's language (Memrise, 2023). 

Many factors in our now well-connected world can influence one's desire to learn a new language. We saw earlier that COVID had a big and positive impact on learning apps as people were working from home. Interestingly, in the US alone, Memrise saw 22% increase in users learning Korean following the release of Netflix show "Squid Game" (Memrise, 2021). With the world becoming more digital, it is likely the language learning industry growth could positively impact Memrise's future development.
