Active learning is a methodogical idea where instead of focusing on knowledge retention, the goal is to manipulate knowledge (Sandrone & Schneider, 2020, p.895). Traditionally, education is teacher-centred and promotes only passive learning. Educators provide knowledge and expect students to demonstrate their retention using assessments. In the case of active learning, students are the key players in their learning journey and the educators are the facilitator instead of the provider ( Sandrone & Schneider, 2020, pp.895-896). In the next few sections, pedagocial strategies will be provided to promote active learning as this strategies aides increasing activation of the limbic system, which then increases engagement.
