Mrs. Priyantha Nandasena
Grad.Dip.Edu (Monash), MEngSc(Monash), MSc(Japan), BScEng(Hons)
Priyantha Nandasena received B.Sc.Eng. degree in Civil Engineering with second class (Upper division) honours from University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, in 1991, and M.Sc. degree in Environmental Engineering and Management from the same university in 1994. She received a M.Eng.Sc degree in Pulp and Paper Technology from Monash University, Australia, in 2002. In 2010 she received the Graduate Diploma in Education (Grad.Dip.Edu. in secondary Mathematics and Science) from the Monash University.
Priyantha worked as a Lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering, Open University of Sri Lanka, during 1991-92. She was an Engineer-Scientist, in the Geotechnical Engineering Division, National Building Research Organisation, Sri Lanka, during 1992-94. During 1997-98, she was a Research Fellow in Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST), Hokuriku, Japan, where she researched in "Application of optimization techniques to solid waste management". She was also involved in teaching English in primary schools in the Kanazawa prefecture, Japan, as an international teacher for a special program in English literacy. During 2003-06, she was a researcher at the Department of Chemical Engineering, Monash University, and CSIRO Australia (Monash). At Monash, she also served as a Tutor/Demonstrator for practice classes for the engineering stream in Computing for Engineers and computer laboratory classes in MATLAB programming. She has secondary teaching experience in mathematics and science at Frankston High School and Nazerath College, Victoria.
Priyantha's research interests:
Engineering mathematics
Primary and secondary education
Environmental engineering
Geotechnical engineering
Optimization Techniques
Experimental Science
I have been a private tutor in Science and Mathematics for primary and secondary students for the past 17 years. My classes cover the general Victorian school syllabus while catering for the needs of the students requiring improvement as well as the high-achieving students.
I am happy to say that in the past few years my students achieved a significant improvement in their academic performance.
