Eri's Adventures is a program designed to teach youth in their classrooms about the natural world through firsthand interactions with persons or groups of adventurers’ in the field. What we call the “Art of Adventure”.
Eri's Adventures was named after Erica Reith a teen who lost her life in a tragic auto accident in 2003.
What is unique about Eri’s adventures is that it allows teachers to adapt their classroom curriculum to many real-world situations in real time with the adventurer in the field. Such topics as geography, geology, climate change, wildlife, dams, electricity and many more can be approached. For instance, on our 2018 Eri’s Adventure on the Columbia river trip we connected students, live, with hydroelectric dam workers inside Wanapum dam in Washington state for a question and answer session. Students benefit in many ways such as learning skills in writing, mathematics, communication, geography, and adventure to name a few.
In 2018, modern day voyageur, and adventurer John Kuntz and his team started Eri's Adventures with his 1250 mile source to sea paddle down the main stem of the Columbia river.
Today that adventure and more strive to teach our youth that there is more to life than what they see, that it is OK to take risks safely for the reward of a life time and that nature is the reward. The adventure is more than just a trip it is an education brought to the classroom into everything natural and real in our world.
