defended his PhD thesis entitled "Radiocarbon: Detection, Contamination, and Determination" on April 11 at the University of Groningen. An important part of his thesis work dealt with the eventual demonstration of the unsuitability of intracavity optogalvanic spectroscopy (ICOGS) for quantitative measurement of radiocarbon at ambient levels, or for that matter any useful level of enrichment.
