Sir Joseph Williamson’s Mathematical School (or ‘the Math’ as it is known locally) is a boys’ grammar school with 1350 students on roll that admits girls in the sixth form. The school is very popular and is regularly oversubscribed. The school became an Academy in April 2011.
We are a National Support School and the Headteacher is a National Leader of Education. The school also became one of the first 100 schools in the country to have been designated a National Teaching School and as such is the lead school in the Medway Teaching School’s Alliance (MTSA). It is also the lead school in the Kent and Medway Maths Hub, one of just 35 lead schools in the country.
The Sir Joseph Williamson Mathematical School sets its pupils a challenging academic curriculum, while encouraging them to participate in a wide array of extracurricular activities and sports clubs. While the school is in many ways traditional, it does not shy away from a progressive approach to both teaching and learning. This ethos is reflected in the modern facilities that the school offers its pupils day-to-day.
A swimming pool state of the art science and music labs exceptional sports facilities and an outstanding curriculum which makes the school one of the top 10 schools in Kent.
