Taking Action for Stray Animals
Pupils from Years 1, 2, and 3, in collaboration with the Community of Liti and the Urban Planning Department of the Municipality of Oraiokastro, carried out an important initiative titled “Taking Action for Stray Animals.” The project took place both within the school grounds and at central locations around the village, aiming to inform, sensitise, and mobilise pupils and the local community on issues of care and protection for stray animals.
Through hands-on activities and group interventions, the pupils gained a deeper understanding of how, when people come together and cooperate, they can achieve meaningful and positive outcomes. The initiative included the posting of informative posters, the construction of shelters and feeding stations, the documentation of animal needs, and dialogue with community and service representatives.
Dissemination of the activity was strengthened through its publication on the school blog ( https://dim-litis.blogspot.com/2025/05/blog-post_30.html ) and with notices (https://dim-litis.blogspot.com/2025/05/blog-post_31.html) placed in public areas to raise wider awareness and highlight the importance of shared responsibility for the wellbeing of stray animals.
This initiative served as a strong example of active citizenship, empathy, and collaboration, linking school education with the local community and promoting values such as respect for life and social engagement.
