Description of the activity
The main objective of this LTTA was to raise students’ awareness on environmental issues, with special attention to the water resources. Participants learned about the importance of protecting the water resources and the quality of the waters. They got a HANDS-ON experience with water quality assessment on a Local River and learned to take responsibility to ensure its sustainability. Here are all the activities/tasks carried out: -getting to know the Hungarian education system; -a presentation about this LTT event by hosting school; -general presentation of the acts of each partner country on this LTT issues with photos, pictures, and videos; -BISEL – water quality – the importance of clean water – video made by DVK students and getting theoretical background; -BISEL water quality assessment workshop at River Rinya; -a presentation of a “Green Job” from the scientific community, local government or a company; -a visit to Középrigóc and playing Treasure Hunt Activity; -a visit to Duna-Dráva National Park Visitors’ Centre in Drávaszentes and observing the typical animal and plant species including endemic Snake's head fritillary (Fritillaria meleagris);-having quiz games and playing environment-oriented Taboo game; -Learning and trying Hungarian local and traditional dances and food; - “Flash Mob” in city centre to raise awareness for clean water; - a visit to Pécs (European Capital of Culture in 2010) and seeing the most famous sights (Széchenyi square, Mosque, Cella Septichora,Cathedral, Zsolnay Quarter)as well as the drinking water supply company using karst water; - seeing the Memorial Park of Hungarian-Turkish Friendship near Szigetvár; -andcraft
activities in preparation for Easter – environmentally- friendly egg painting techniques; - Drama activity to raise awareness on the sustainable use of natural resources; -bicycle trip on the Amazon of Europe bicycle trail to Kastélyosdombó (16 km); -a visit to Kastélyosdombó Hungarian Interchurch Aid Centre – Hop Plantation, Cheese Manufactory; - Activism march for climate on a public place to raise attention of passerby.

How did the participation in this activity benefit the involved participants?
By attending this activity, the participants have gained:
-Having the opportunity to learn about the concept of SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT and how to deal with in everyday life; both theoretical and practical aspects of environmental learning; -Growing respect for nature;-Raising awareness on sustainable use of natural resources; -Developing Water literacy; -Seeing the consequences of human water pollution and the urgency to take action and responsibility;-Developing acting skills through drama activities and taboo game;-Developing the capacity of making judgement and choices, critical reflection, positive attitude towards environment, confidence, and self-esteem; - Cooperating with peers/colleagues in guidance of making environmental friendly products for Easter; - Learning about other national educational systems and curricula -Exchanging of good practices; - Getting to know the facilities and acts of the host country on environmental issues; -Getting to know about the green jobs; - Experiencing extracurricular activities, hands-on learning; -Ability to evaluate environmental measurements and educational programs with regard to ecological, political, economic, social, aesthetic and educational factors; -Having a taste of Hungarian cultural heritage;-Having the possibility to increase social skills, pedagogical skills, communication skills, online collaboration, group work, analyzing a problem from multiple perspectives, intercultural dialogue; - Learning the endemic plant and animal species of the host country as well as the local fauna and the flora; - Getting the opportunity to experience natural science in a more effective and practice-based way by integrating taxonomy, ecology, biology and chemistry; -learning advanced experiments techniques;-Practicing foreign language;-Having a great awareness on cultural and linguistic diversity;-Increasing ICT competences;-Development in presentation skills; --Improving social & communication skills;-Developing acting skills.
