Energy efficiency and saving-renewable energy
Description of the activity
21 Pupils and 9 staff from guests;19 pupils and 6 staff from hosting school attended the activities. By using energy more efficiently and thereby consuming less, we can lower the energy bills, help protect the environment and reduce the EU's reliance on external suppliers of oil and gas. In order to achieve these benefits, energy efficiency needs to be improved throughout the full energy chain, from production to final consumption.

Day1:Meeting staff and learning education system in Greece; a presentation about this LTT event by hosting school; presentation of partners about their energy
sources and acts on energy saving and efficiency with videos, photos, posters, constructions; Simulation of European Parliament- a debate on Fast Fashion; Upcycling Fashion Show
Day2:Study visit to Heraklion
Day3:Presentation of Cretan Culture-Local Dances
Workshops: Solar Panel Construction Game: Preparing food & cook in a Solar Oven; Designing a vehicle running with a Solar Panel
Green jobs presentation “The Implementation of the Cyclical Economy"
Day4:Visiting the Educational Environmental Natural area: Richtis Gorge
Day5:Radio Show to arise Environmental Awareness and Understanding

Expected results:
-enriching the staff with innovative didactic methods
-an increase of knowledge on partner countries' education system
-learning acts of partner countries on renewable energy and energy efficiency
-realising the importance of renewable energy in terms of a sustainable environment by decreasing emissions, reducing climate change and providing a clean environment as well as clean energy for all and future generations.
-getting to know the facilities and acts of the host country on environmental issues
-an increased language & ICT competencies,
-getting to know one of the green jobs
-social and intercultural exchange
-learning how to struggle for a more livable and sustainable world by putting herself in the shoes of lawmakers
-learning the importance of recycling/upcycling
-learning to live in harmony with nature without harming it
Methodology:
-discussions, activism, spending time together, peer-learning
-multimedia presentations, constructions, experiments, learning by living, hands-on learning, environmental learning
-group work, individual work, creative techniques, drama, reflections in smaller groups, individual reflection
As it was summer holiday there was no regular school schedule.The students integrated the knowledge about energy efficiency and saving with their Science classes. The experiment on “The Greenhouse effect - Global warming” is directly related to their Physics curriculum. Learning about Green jobs will help our pupils decide on their future jobs. Practicing English with their European peers was an excellent opportunity for them.
How did the participation in this activity benefit the involved participants?
