Description of our project's motivation

The industrial revolution triggered many severe environmental problems by putting our tomorrows at risk.These obvious threats have been forcing mankind to react in order to protect the environment and to ensure its

sustainability.We must stop extinguishing the world with our ruthless acts and admit that human is not the master of nature but a part of it.

In 1987,UN World Commission on Environment and Development published ‘OUR COMMON FUTURE’ also known as ‘Brundtland Report’, which has been the milestone for ‘Sustainable Development’ as understood today.It is the 1st worldwide concern about the environment.It has also been the main inspiration for this project by naming after it.

This commission defined“Sustainable development”as“development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” From this view, the concept of sustainability in this project is considered as a philosophy of life,teaching pupils to see themselves as an integral part of the ecosystem, to reduce consumerism,to live life simpler and in harmony with nature. It is time to take action and responsibility locally and globally.

Yet, what can a student do? Brundtland noted that ‘educational groups’ will play a crucial part in putting the world onto sustainable development paths.Thus,as teachers,we are dedicated to fulfill this duty.

This is our responsibility to raise awareness on pupils to achieve the common good.We aim to merge the principles and practices of sustainable environment into all aspects of education and learning and support the

behavioral changes 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals(articles 6,7,12,13,14,15 are on environment) and soon after Paris Agreement(2015)have been the universal calls to action to achieve a better and more sustainable future EU has always been the pioneer of the environmental actions with the motto “Leave No one Behind.”EU has set goals to sustain environment with 2020 Climate and Energy Package; 2030 Climate and Energy Frame Work; 2050

Long Term Low-Carbon Economy Strategy; 2050 The European Green Deal Strategy.  We also conducted a need analysis survey on 'sustainable environment' for totally 1240 students of all partner schools.The results revealed that most of the students attending the survey need to be educated and aware on 0- waste(61%), recycling(51%), energy efficiency and renewable energy(56%), endemic plant species(79%), growing plants with compost technique(72%), reducing consumerism(60%), sustainable use of natural resources(53%) and using the right chemicals(61%). 53% cannot count 5 green jobs and 50% of them have never planted a tree. This project will lead our pupils to work with their European peers by exchanging ideas on these challenges.Education, communication, and international co-operation can all help achieve these global goals.The EU money spent on this great purpose, which is common in Brundtland, UN, EU strategy documents, will have served the right aim.

Achieving Objectives  & Concrete results

Environmental destruction became more visible in the late 20th c. and has been remained on the agenda of UN, EU and many environmental organizations with the understanding of ‘There is no other world.’ Similarly, our motto is ‘It is our COMMON problem of our COMMON world threatening OUR COMMON FUTURE’(priorities-Environmental

and climate goals; climate change; energy and sources; natural science).We aim to contribute to the achievement of the UN 2030 agenda-SDG, which will also carry us to EU Green Deal Strategy for 2050.We want to ensure a better and more sustainable future for all(priority-common values, civic engagement and participation) With this project,we will help our pupils develop language and digital competences, communication skills, problem solving, team work, entrepreneurial mind-set, critical and multifaceted thinking and creativity, forward-looking skills,lifelong learning, solidarity, cooperation to see other perspective, aesthetic awareness and skills about art and environment, mutual respect and equality between countries and generations, respecting the diversity and providing sustainable use of natural resources(priority-supporting individuals in acquiring and developing basic skills and key competences)

Also,pupils will learn about the environmental problems, gain awareness and develop sensitivity, positive and realistic attitudes towards it and its sustainability by creating a change of behavior in this regard.They will also improve skills in identifying and solving the environmental problems and taking action in order to realize the change and sustainability in the world in a balanced and global scale.They will realize that preserving the habitat and the diversity of living things is not only necessary to ensure the life security of today's generation,but also to guarantee the right to life of future generations.All in all, they will gain EU citizenship values and create a sense of universal responsibility

They will learn endemic plant species;the ways of energy efficiency and saving;3Rs:Recycle-Reuse-Reduce;sorting waste at source;producing environmentally friendly cleaning agents;renewable energy sources;composting technique;water literacy;calculating ecological footprint;respecting nature;green jobs

Staff will also share good practice;build professional links with European colleagues;develop innovative teaching methods generated by mutual exchange of knowledge or expertise;enrich professional profiles and competencies
