Empowering Queer Immigrant Lives is an initiative started in the Bronx that aims to uplift and spread the QTBIPOC immigrant narrative in New York City.
EQIL aims to highlight immigrant narratives within Queer experiences and will be hosting social events and meetings starting in summer of 2025. With funding, the EQIL project is putting out the first season of a podcast in. The EQIL Vol. 1 zine was also digitally published and physically distributed throughout NYC for Pride 2024.
The first season and Vol 1. has been funded by the Rhodes and Carpenter Grant distributed through Fordham University.
With a Malaysian-Tamil Background, Tarchithaa has been in NY for over a decade now and currently resides in the Bronx.
Fareea is a second-gen immigrant from the South Asian Diaspora and hopes to foster community spaces for QTBIPOC individuals.
