This page is dedicated to bringing encouragement and insight to God's people and reaching the lost for Christ.
I have a favorite Old Testament verse that many will probably find odd: "Man that is born of woman is of a few days full of trouble. Job 14:1 The reason it is my favorite is because it helps to explain why there is so much suffering in my life and in the world. It can be my favorite bible verse because of my favorite New Testament verse: " In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." John 16:33
We can be certain that troubles will continue. But we can be more certain that when we put our trust in the Lord Jesus we are able to overcome the troubles and trials and tribulations.
Thoughts on the Letter of James 1:2-4
The Letter of James says, "... Count it all joy when you fall into divers temptations; knowing this, that the trying of your faith works patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that you may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing." Ja 1:2-4 When we find ourselves in the midst of various troubles or trials we should allow the trouble or trial strengthen our resolve to follow in the footstep of Jesus who did not attempt to put off or hide from the troubles. But rather, he faced them, in the power of his trust in the Father, to see him through. Each trial, when it is seen through, convinces your soul that you have an anchor in Christ that cannot move you from the course he has set for you. There is no trouble, trial, or temptation that you will face that is going to be unique to you. Jesus has seen it all and because he has overcome he gives us the power to overcome as well.
When we face our trials in the power of our trust in Jesus, we find more grace and strength than if we attempt to hide or avoid the troubles.
Use the Word of the Living God to keep yourself on track in the midst of your troubles. Hold fast to promises like, "Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all. Psalm 34:19
Seasons of our lives
I am convinced that there are seasons in our lives that God deliberately leaves us to our own devices. He allows our choices to take us where they will. He allows our words and actions to be played out in our lives. Sometimes we make good decisions. Sometimes we even know in our selves that we have made the wrong decision. But God allows. Then there are seasons in our lives that God makes it clear that he has a better way. He makes it clear that he offers a better plan and a better end. The Holy Spirit of God begins to woo our hearts and draw our souls in God's direction. During this season you have the opportunity to respond to God's call.
The scriptures say it is appointed to man to die (no one can escape death), but then is the judgment when we will all stand before the Sovereign God of all creation.
Before that great and terrible day, choose Christ, choose eternal life, not eternal damnation.
Today, if the Spirit of God is speaking to your soul, hear him, repent, and turn your life over to the one who loves you with an everlasting love.
This is one decision you will never have an occasion to regret.
