Type 9 is also called the Peacemaker or the Mediator. Here at Enneahouse, we call Type 9's "Nature" elemental personalities. Nature can be serene, calming and uniting, but can also be placid and prone to inertia.
Type 9's are usually born with a need for peace. They have a tendency to believe that their own thoughts and opinions only matter inasmuch as they do not hurt others' feelings. 9's have the potential to be true peacemakers, whereas they start out just as peace seekers. They often dream of world peace on the macro and micro level. They are typically driven by making sure that they never lose what matters most to them.
The world needs Type 9's because they have the greatest capacity for actually creating peace. They are very frequently gentle, likable and the type every type can get along with. They typically go along to get along because they believe their opinions, which can actually be very strong, will burn bridges otherwise.
When they are in a negative emotional state, Type 9's may become anxious, paranoid and skeptical. Their emotional state decays when they do not express their own opinions and stand up for their needs.
When they are in a positive emotional state, Type 9's become the true peacemakers. They become able to understand the nature of conflict and are able to see both sides. They improve their psychological state by standing up for their own opinions, especially when it matters.
