Melany (The Cook):
Hi Ivonne! I just realized the kitchen is almost empty. Do we have any pasta?
Ivonne (The Roommate):
Let me check. Yes, we have some pasta, but we don’t have tomatoes.
Melany:
Oh no! Do we have cheese?
Ivonne:
Yes, we have a little cheese and some vegetables.
Pame (The Assistant):
Okay, I am writing the shopping list. We need some tomatoes and a bottle of wine.
Melany:
Good idea. We are going to cook pasta with vegetables.
Ivonne:
And we can also make a salad.
Pame:
Great! Now let's invite the group.
Invitation
Hello everyone!
We are going to have a dinner party tonight at our house.
The party is going to start at 7:00 p.m.
We are going to cook pasta with vegetables and make a salad.
There is also going to be wine and some snacks.
We hope you can come and enjoy the dinner with us!
Autoreflection
In this activity, I learned how to communicate in English in a real-life situation, like planning a dinner with other people. I practiced asking questions, answering, and using simple vocabulary about food and kitchen items. I also learned how to work in a group and take turns in a conversation.
This activity helped me feel more confident speaking in English because it was practical and similar to real life. I can use this in the future when I need to talk about plans, organize events, or ask for information in English.
Conversation
Pamela:
Okay, we only have a little food, so we need to organize it for 4 days.
Kendra:
Yes, let’s divide everything equally so no one eats more than the others.
Melany:
We also need to save water. Maybe 1 liter per day for all of us.
Pamela:
Good idea. For the tuna, we have 4 cans, so we can eat 1 can per day and share it.
Kendra:
And the rice? We can cook a little each day and divide it into 3 portions.
Melany:
The bread and bananas we should eat in the first 2 days because they can go bad.
Pamela:
We can also use containers. Let’s make 4 containers, one for each day.
Kendra:
Yes! We put the exact food for each day inside, so we don’t eat extra.
Melany:
And we only open one container per day. The others stay closed.
Pamela:
Perfect, that way we control the food and survive the 4 days.
Here is our recording!
Autoreflection
Today I learned how to organize and divide limited resources to survive for several days. This activity helped me understand the importance of planning, teamwork, and making fair decisions.
I also learned that communication is very important, because by talking and listening to others, we can find better solutions. Using containers showed me how being organized can help us control what we use and avoid wasting food and water.
In my daily life, I can use this by being more responsible with resources like food, money, and time. I can also work better in a team, respect others’ ideas, and plan ahead to solve problems.
First, crack the eggs into a bowl and whisk them well.
Next, heat a pan with a little butter.
Then, pour the eggs into the pan and cook them for about 5 minutes while you stir them gently.
Finally, add a little salt and serve your scrambled eggs. Enjoy!
The video talks about traveling to different places around the world and shows how beautiful and interesting these destinations are. It presents famous locations, nature, cities, and cultural sites that people like to visit when they travel. The goal of the video is to inspire people to explore new places and discover different cultures .
Autoreflection
From these two activities I learned how to use English in practical and everyday situations. In the cooking activity, I practiced using sequence words like first, next, then, and finally. This helped me understand how to explain a process step by step in a clear way. I also learned new cooking verbs that can be useful when talking about food or recipes.
In the travel video activity, I practiced listening and understanding the main idea of a video in English. This helped me improve my listening skills and learn vocabulary related to travel, places, and experiences.
I can use what I learned in my daily life when I need to explain instructions, describe a process, or talk about traveling and different places. These activities helped me feel more confident using English to communicate simple ideas in a clear and organized way.
