Good morning, everyone. Today we have exciting news from Costa Rica. Scientists have found fossils of ancient animals in OrosĂ, Cartago.
(Melany)
The fossils were discovered on private land and belong to two big prehistoric animals: a mastodon and a giant sloth. These animals lived thousands of years ago during the Pleistocene era.
(Ivonne)
Researchers found 49 fossil pieces so far, including bones and a long tusk. They believe the remains are between 10,000 and 40,000 years old.
(José Adrián)
The discovery strengthens Costa Rica’s scientific collection and helps scientists learn more about ancient animals in Central America. The National Museum plans to eventually show the fossils to the public.
Today in English class, I learned more about how to use the simple present and the simple past correctly. Through the crossword activity, I practiced forming sentences in the present simple and understood better when to add -s or -es to verbs. It helped me remember that we use the present simple for routines and general facts.
With the editing practice, I learned how to identify mistakes and change verbs into the simple past. I reviewed irregular verbs like went, found, took, and made, and I realized how important it is to pay attention to verb forms when talking about past events.
In the news report activity, I practiced combining simple past and simple present. I learned that we use the simple past to describe events that already happened and the simple present to talk about facts or current situations. This activity helped me feel more confident speaking and organizing ideas in English.
I can use what I learned today to write better paragraphs, speak more clearly about past experiences, and understand news or stories in English. I also feel more prepared to participate in class and work in a group.
Overall, today’s activities helped me improve my grammar, vocabulary, and confidence in English.

Through this activity, I learned how to express future plans and predictions using “will” in English. Creating my own company helped me practice how to describe ideas clearly and explain what will happen in the future. I understood that we use “will” to talk about promises, decisions made at the moment, and predictions about what we think will happen. For example, when I wrote the promises to customers, I used “will” to show commitment and confidence.
This activity also helped me improve my creativity and vocabulary because I had to imagine a new business and explain it in an organized way. Now I feel more confident using “will” to talk about future plans in conversations, presentations, and writing assignments. It showed me that English is not only about grammar, but also about communicating ideas clearly and effectively.

Autoreflection
I learned how to organize ideas in a clear and logical way. In the jumbled article activity, I understood the importance of identifying the main idea and using linking words like first, however, next, and as a result to connect ideas correctly. This helped me see how sentences work together to form a complete and meaningful paragraph. In the descriptive text activity, I learned how to structure a paragraph with an introduction, supporting ideas, details, and a conclusion. I also practiced expressing my ideas clearly and giving specific examples.
I can use what I learned to improve my writing in essays, reports, and assignments because now I know how to organize my thoughts and connect them properly. These skills will help me communicate better, both in English and in my future professional career.
